What keeps you going with this work? Is there an aspect of tutoring that you find particularly rewarding?
For me, being a part of something that is completely in service of others is very gratifying. As a tutor, I worked with one person but I could see that the outcome impacted that whole family.
What does it for you?

Welcome to the new Portland Tutors!
As we're about to kick off a Tutor Training class this week, I'm excited and nervous for these new tutors! It's as though I'm going through it again myself for the first time.
This blog can become an important support system for them as they begin. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences!

Welcome!
You're an LV tutor! First of all, Thank you!! You make the difference in someone's life and that is huge! I've been involved with LVGP since 1996 but I remember what it took for me to make the call to become a tutor, to go to training and meet my student for the first time....terrifying! I was out of my comfort zone and it was voluntary!
So as we're about to kick off 2008, I asked myself what would help tutors in their work? Whether you've been a tutor for a day or 20 years, there are always new ideas or best practices that others are using or times when you just need a little motivation to keep going. So, loving technology, I thought....blog!
If you have a question or an idea to share, join me, won't you? And, Happy New Year!!
